- 3 cloves garlic chopped fine
- 4-6 chicken pieces (great with leg quarters, or chicken thighs, or boneless skinless thighs)
- 1 cup pearl onions
- 1 cup mushrooms quartered
- 1 carrot cut up into 1 inch pieces
- 2 slices bacon (optional)
- 1 cup chicken stock
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 bottle red wine (pinot noir works great)
- 3-4 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1/4 cup brandy or cognac
- 2 tbs flour, mixed with 2 tbs butter that has softened to form a paste
- Egg noodles
